Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka
To establish the identity of Buddhist Culture throughout the world by preserving the identity of Sri Lankan Buddhist culture
Creating virtuous individuals who respect ones' own culture with the assimilation of the identical features of Buddhist culture, locally and internationally.
The Department of Buddhist Culture is one of the main departments attached to the Faculty of Buddhist Studies at the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka. This department was established in 1997 with the establishment of the university in Homagama premises, and with the intention of achieving the vision of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka.
The main objective of our department is to teach Buddhist Culture for both local and foreign students who are willing to learn this subject. The curriculum of our department includes the geographical expansion of Buddhist Culture in both Theravada and Mahayana countries with the significant cultural features of each country. Further it is expected to apply Buddhist teachings with certain disciplines socio-economic, political, education and management etc.
Our Department acts a significant role in teaching students as all the students registered in our university should select Buddhist Culture as one of their main subjects. Also we provide the general and special degrees in both Sinhala and English media. Few main activities organized by our department annually can be pointed out as follows.
